Fort Walton Machining, a Fort Walton Beach-based manufacturer of specification intensive components and assemblies for the aerospace industry, will use its $99,062 grant, matched by an equal contribution, for employee training as it implements a new Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system. Training of 40 employees on the new system will increase efficiency by allowing managers to estimate, track and receive accurate reports at all stages of the manufacturing process. The company, whose staff has grown by almost 75% since early 2009, will be well positioned to accept and manage more contracts upon implementation of the new MRP system.
