Incumbent Worker Training Grant Award

GE Energy

GE Energy, whose Pensacola facility is the largest producer of wind turbines in the U.S., received a grant for $59,500 which it will match with its own $59,500 investment for employee skills upgrades. GE will train more than 150 employees on production of components for the new 2.5 megawatt (MW) turbine as well as continuing education on the 1.5 MW turbine. Production on the larger 2.5 MW turbine begins this year. The 1.5 MW turbine has been produced at the Pensacola facility for many years. In addition to on-the-job training, employees will attend courses on topics such as fork truck and overhead crane operation, presentation skills, personnel relations and maintenance.
