Post-Secondary Education Grant Awards

Program Summary:
The scholarships created using the Post-Secondary Education Grant funds will target students living and planning to work after graduation in Northwest Florida. Scholarship recipients will be monitored for progress throughout their enrollment and will register with one of the regional workforce boards for tracking of future employment data.

Florida State University College of Information

Florida State University’s College of Information received $150,000 which will be used to fund 50 scholarships for students seeking a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a specialization in Computer Networking, Computer Security, General Computer Support, Web Design or Health Informatics. The grant award will be matched by Florida State University with $153,016.

The Northwest Florida Consortium

A consortium comprised of six Northwest Florida post-secondary institutions was awarded a $1,000,000 grant to address the need to grow the region’s information technology workforce. The consortium includes the University of West Florida, Chipola College, Gulf Coast Community College, Northwest Florida State College, Pensacola Junior College and Tallahassee Community College. A total of 378 scholarship opportunities will be offered by consortium members in IT and engineering programs that range from certifications to master’s degrees in computer-related majors. The consortium will match the grant with $2,631,935 for a total program investment over $3.5 million.
