Workforce Innovation I Grant Awards

The objective of the Workforce Innovation I program was to fund innovative workforce development, training, entrepreneurship and other industry-specific education and training partnership projects that encourage or lead to employment or employee advancement in the target and supporting industries. Florida’s Great Northwest provided funds to the region’s workforce development boards for innovative projects that address each community’s workforce needs. The programs offered by the workforce boards cover a wide array of topics including business retention efforts, career academy promotion, assistance to military personnel transitioning to the private sector, target industry training and career awareness, robotics competitions for high school students and teacher externships to target industry businesses. Through these programs, the workforce boards were able to form and strengthen strategic partnerships with industry, economic development organizations, community leaders and secondary and post-secondary education institutions.
