Metropolitan Statistical Areas

Northwest Florida’s 16-county region, also known as the Panhandle, is recognized as one of eight economic development regions within the State of Florida. Northwest Florida includes four federally-defined Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs):



The Pensacola MSA, also known as the Pensacola-Ferry Pass-Brent, FL MSA, includes the two most western counties in Florida—Escambia and Santa Rosa. Please click Pensacola MSA for MSA-level data or Escambia County or Santa Rosa County for information on the respective counties.

The Fort Walton Beach MSA, also known as the Crestview-Fort Walton-Destin, FL MSA, includes Okaloosa County and Walton County. Please click Okaloosa County and Walton County for more information.

The Panama City MSA, also known as the Panama City-Lynn Haven-Panama City Beach MSA, includes Bay County and Gulf County. Please click Bay County and Gulf County for more information.
